In relation to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Circular 2020-007 pertaining to the Guidelines in the Implementation of the Use of Electronic Means of Prescription for Drugs for the Benefit of Individuals Vulnerable to COVID-19, the CyberSecurity Bureau of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) conveys to all doctors and health professionals in the country that the agency is open to receiving applications for digital signatures. This is free of charge and is one of the services provided by the agency to help every Filipino in this time of crisis.

The DICT aims to ensure the continuous access of Filipinos to prescription and maintenance drugs during the quarantine period using electronic measures while ensuring security. Further, drugstores, pharmacies and similar outlets are now mandated to honor electronic prescriptions pursuant to the provisions of Republic Act No. 8792 otherwise known as the Electronic Commerce Act of 2000.
