Proclamation No. 1521, series of 2008 declares the month of June as National Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Month in the Philippines.

With ICT gaining traction in the everyday lives of Filipinos, the DICT recognizes its significance in playing a bigger role as an effective tool for nation-building. ICT has the power to foster inclusivity, enable security and efficiency, as well as strengthen connections between individuals, communities, and sectors. In acknowledgment of such, this year’s theme for National ICT Month is “ICT for a Better and Safe Philippines.”

To celebrate National ICT Month, the Department is holding various activities cultivating digital opportunities for all Filipinos, and advocating for the enhancement of national connectivity and security through ICT. All activities and events are scheduled to be held through the entire month of June. Highlighted among these are the following events: the Launch of the National Government Portal, the Unveiling of the National Broadband Plan, and the continuing of the refocused Free Wi-Fi Internet Access in Public Places Project, on June 23, 2017.

Prior to this, the DICT will also be conducting a week-long Open House event from June 19 to 23, 2017, during which the public is invited to visit the Department to get to know its different services, programs, projects, and Field Operations Offices.
