26 March 2019 – As part of the celebration of the 25th year of internet connection in the Philippines, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) kicked off the #PHInternetLevelUpAt25 tech exhibition on Monday, 25 March.
The event is a week-long exhibition showcasing leading information and communications technology (ICT) companies, such as PLDT, Globe, FiberHome, Nokia, PHCOLO INC., and Kollab, at the DICT lobby. The booths feature the latest trends and future technologies, as well as services provided by ICT companies.
DICT Acting Secretary Eliseo M. Rio Jr. led the ceremonial ribbon cutting of the exhibition which is open to public until March 28, Thursday.
Anyone interested on cyber security trends or has concerns regarding subscription may visit the PLDT and Globe booths. Furthermore, FiberHome provides information on 5G internet connection while Nokia highlights its ViTrust Public Safety end-to-end solution which enhances emergency service and response times and situational awareness.
PHCOLO, a telecom cross-connection facility, assists customers interested in collocation services, meet-me-room data center, communication tower spot location services wireless equipment, multi-telco connectivity, internet data services and data disaster and recovery sites.
Additionally, Kollab, a premier partner of Google Cloud, provides comprehensive details on the use and advantages of G Suite, a cloud-based set of online productivity and collaboration tools.
In line with the week-long celebration, the DICT is also set to hold a tech talk on Thursday, 28 March, and the culminating activity entitled Unlocking the Paths of the Future: 25 Years of Internet in the Philippines on 29 March, Friday, 9 AM at Eastwood Richmonde Hotel in Quezon City.
Set exactly on the day when the country first had a live Internet connection 25 years ago, the March 29 event will feature past, present and future discussions of Philippine Internet with pioneers and ICT advocates.
