With the need to increase the density of technopreneurs in the country, the Department of Information and Communications Technology and incubator and co-working network Impact Hub Manila joined forces to kickstart Elevate National Roadshow, a multi-city digital startup project, in August.
Elevate National Roadshow is designed to build awareness and empower startups to ultimately help them bring their innovations and ideas to reality.
Undersecretary Monchito B. Ibrahim and Impact Hub Manila Co-Founder & CEO Celesto Eden Rondario signed a Memorandum of Agreement on 28 May 2018 to pave the way for the conduct of Elevate.
The Roadshow will provide the DICT with an opportunity to advance the growth of the country’s digital startup pipeline.
“We want to learn about their ideas, the challenges they face, and the types of assistance that they need. This will help us find areas where we can engage them as we build a startup ecosystem that supports ICT entrepreneurship and innovation,” shared DigitalPH Program Manager Ms. Emmy Lou V. Delfin, adding that the Roadshow is a chance to interact with existing and potential startups.
“We are excited to partner with DICT as we go beyond Manila and meet entrepreneurs throughout the country,” said Ms. Rondario. “We are committed to bringing the startup ecosystem to the next level, and helping entrepreneurs start, and scale their startups.”
For the whole month of August this year, the roadshow will tour five key cities nationwide, with Clark, Pampanga as its first stop, to conduct discussion and mentoring sessions in the local startup community. Baguio, Iloilo, Dumaguete, and Cagayan de Oro are the other four locations lined up in Elevate’s inaugural year.
During the two-day event, DICT and Impact Hub Manila will host town hall meetings, and conduct learning lab workshops about Startup 101 and Scaling. A social night will culminate each city tour with startup leaders sharing their stories their failures and successes.
This project aims to support the DICT’s seedPH Program in enriching the development of communities in the countryside, which has been crucial in the continuous spread of the startup advocacy. The Roadshow also supports the Philippine Roadmap for Digital Startup initiative of conducting grassroots activities that will encourage the players to focus on the quality of one value-generating event.
