The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), represented by Director Emmy Lou Versoza-Delfin of the ICT Industry Development Bureau (IIDB), joined the Philippine Delegation to the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Global Health Conference & Exhibition 2022 and HIMS-BPM Roadshow.
“We are certain to create more jobs in the Health Information Management Services (HIMS) sector. Rest assured that your DICT will continue supporting the HIMS Business Process Management (BPM) sector as it continues to be one of the biggest and fastest growing sectors for the IT-BPM industry. Through our continued efforts on talent development, talent attraction, and strong marketing and promotion efforts of our country’s capabilities, we hope to maintain the strong growth of the sector” Acting Secretary Emmanuel Rey “Manny” R. Caintic stated.
With the Department’s mandate to support the promotion of trade and investment opportunities in the ICT in coordination with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and other relevant agencies, the DICT joined the business mission to help promote the Philippines’ ICT sector’s strengths and capabilities, as well as the government initiatives in developing the ICT industry.
Through the IIDB, the DICT has been supporting the Philippine Healthcare Information Management sector as one of the biggest contributors to the local BPO industry contributing around 143,300 Full-Time Employees (FTEs) and US$2.9 billion in revenue in 2019.
The DICT believes that the exponential growth of the HIMS outsourcing is due to the continued efforts to expand services to the USA market. With competing forces vying for the USA market, the Philippines should continue to maintain its presence and further develop and explore new business areas.
Along with the Department, this year’s participation in the HIMS Conference & Exhibition 2022 and HIMS-BPM Roadshow was also led by the following government agencies: Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Board of Investments (BOI), DTI – Export Marketing Bureau (EMB), Philippine Trade and Investment Center (PTIC).
The Philippine delegation from the private sector was headed by the Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines (HIMAP) and consisted of ten (10) Healthcare Information Management companies which includes ADEC Innovations Healthcare, Advanced World Solutions, Inc., Connext Global Solutions, DynaQuest Technology Services, HyBRAIN, Inspiro, Megaworld International, Phoenix Virtual Solutions, Pointwest Innovations Corporation , and Visaya Knowledge Process Outsourcing Corporation.
The delegation represented the Philippines in the HIMS 2022 Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, Florida which started last March 14 to 18, 2022 where a 1,200 square feet booth space was funded by the government to promote key services offered by the Philippines and to facilitate business matching sessions with various participants.
The Philippine delegation also went to participate in the HIMS-BPM Roadshow (March 19-23, 2022) in San Francisco, California and the HIMS-BPM Roadshow (March 23-27, 2022) in Los Angeles, California to conduct market sensing, explore areas for collaboration, and promote services in critical areas across the USA.
“As of the end of the HIMS-BPM Roadshow, we are currently estimating a 30-40 million US Dollar potential revenue from all participating companies with around 300 business leads which the companies will pursue further,” Director Delfin stated.
The Department commits to provide high-value jobs to every Filipino healthcare-related worker. The goal is for healthcare-related workers to access various high-value careers to choose from instead of exploring options outside the country in an effort to uplift the living conditions and of their families.
