The Department of Information and Communications Technology – Mindanao Cluster 3 (DICT MC3) launched Tech4ED centers and provided ICT equipment as part of the Department’s strengthened roll-out of the Tech4ED Program to help Filipinos transition to the new normal.
“Through the Tech4ED Program, the DICT aims to empower Filipinos by providing them the ICT tools as well as the skills and knowledge to maximize the use of ICT. Our vision is to help them grow and thrive in the digital landscape as we continue to transition to the new normal,” DICT Secretary Gregorio “Gringo” B. Honasan II said.
The DICT MC3 turned over three complete sets of computer units, one printer, one router, and IP CCTV to Kiamba LGU Tech4ED Center on April 27 and to Maitum LGU Tech4ED Center on April 26. Both LGUs are in Sarangani province.
In General Santos City, the Marcellin Foundation Tech4ED Center in Katangawan officially opened on April 14. The said Tech4ED Center is expected to increase the ICT skills of the boys under the care of the foundation. Likewise, the Tech4ED Program was also launched at the Bawing Community e-Center Learning Hub on April 14.
A memorandum of agreement (MOA) was also signed between the DICT MC3 and the General Santos City LGU last April 14 for the implementation of the Tech4ED Program.
Barangays in the city are enjoined to embrace the Department’s said program. Through Tech4ED, a series of trainings and seminars and capacity buildings will be delivered to the barangay communities.
In the Davao Region, the DICT MC3 has earlier launched the Balutakay Elementary School Tech4ED Center in Barangay Managa, Bansalan, Davao del Sur on April 13. DICT MC3 also turned over a computer equipment package composed of three units of desktop computer, a 3-in-1 printer, a CCTV camera, and a router.
In addition, DICT MC3 also launched and turned over equipment to the Baganga Central Elementary School Tech4ED Center in Davao Oriental on April 8.
Tech4ED, which stands for Technology Empowerment for Education, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development, targets to advance digital inclusivity in the countryside.
