A Ceremonial Launching of the program will be held on September 23, 2021 at 10:00 AM to be led by DICT Secretary Gregorio B. Honasan II and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, along with the Presidents and Executive Directors of the IT-BPM sub-sector associations.
For the first batch of the vaccination program, a total of 1,600 slots has been allocated for IT-BPM industry employees endorsed by IT-BPM Subsectors GDAP, PSIA, and HIMAP.
DICT Secretary Gregorio B. Honasan II recognizes the role of the IT-BPM Industry in the country’s economic recovery, with the industry’s contribution of US $26.7 billion or 6% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by the end of 2020. The industry remained resilient and was able to sustain and continuously add more jobs to its workforce despite the global pandemic.
“We are hopeful that through the continuous vaccination effort, we will be able to help the entire IT-BPM industry, especially its subsectors, to become fully functional and to continuously contribute to the recovering economy by getting their workforce vaccinated,” he said.
The IT-BPM industry is composed of six (6) sub-sectors including Contact Centers, IT and Software Development, Global In-House Centers, Healthcare Information Management, Animation, and Game Development.
In 2020, the IT-BPM industry created jobs for 1.32 million Filipinos, making it one of the largest private-sector employers in the Philippines.
The industry has been continuously cited as a critical economic pillar in the country’s goal of generating employment for Filipinos. At present, it continues to display its resiliency during the pandemic situation.
