Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Acting Secretary Emmanuel Rey R. Caintic, together with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and executives from AirAsia welcomed AirAsia Super App PH during its launch at the Hilton Hotel Manila on April 6, 2022.

“The Department of Information and Communications Technology is at the forefront in welcoming key players and enablers in crafting innovative ways to provide every Filipino access to vital ICT infostructure and services, and ensure the sustainable growth of Philippine ICT-enabled industries,” DICT Acting Secretary Emmanuel Rey “Manny” R. Caintic said during his keynote address. 

The AirAsia Super App PH is an integrated travel and lifestyle platform where users can book flights, hotels, travel packages, and car rides, along with shopping and parcel delivery. After it was successfully launched in Malaysia and Thailand, it is likewise expected to do well in the Philippines, especially towards accelerating the economy for post-pandemic recovery.

The DICT promotes technological advancements that prove to be sustainable innovations, further building the digital infrastructure of the country and securing the country’s place in the digital economy. Aside from the convenience, these innovations can also create opportunities and generate more jobs for Filipinos.

“The Super App makes technology in travel, lifestyle, and financial services more understandable, accessible, and flexible. It further supports and promotes the Philippines’ digital economy. The platform also provides an avenue for Philippine firms, as well as small and medium enterprises to come together, therefore speeding up industry growth and enhancing their competitiveness,” DICT Chief Caintic added.
