As digitalPH continues to plant the seeds of development in the country, its impact is already starting to turn heads internationally.
digitalPH, the DICT’s umbrella program dedicated for countryside development, proved its a world-class innovation in ICT after receiving a Recognition of Excellence in the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Telecom Awards 2017 held at Busan, South Korea.
A brainchild of the e-Innovation group, digitalPH is a mother program designed to encourage innovation in the field of digital and multimedia technologies and services, especially in the countryside.
Under the umbrella of digitalPH are four specific initiatives, namely Stepping Up the Value Chain, Rural Impact Sourcing, seedPH, and Digital Cities (formerly Next Wave Cities), which all play a crucial role in ensuring the country’s growth and competitiveness as a thriving digital economy.
Ms. Emmy Lou Delfin, program manager to digitalPH, personally received the citation from ITU Secretary-General Houlin Zhao in a high-profile awarding ceremony attended by heads of governments, global industry leaders, and international organizations.
