YES! Even geeks can handle a little sunburn and sand between their toes!
The “Geeks On A Beach (GOAB)” tech start up conference, on September 26-27, organized by Techtalks.ph and co-organized by the Information and Communications Technology Office of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST – ICT Office), will be held in the world-famous island of Boracay.
The two-day conference aims to “bring together Tech Innovators — from Startups to Global Heroes,” GOAB is a new kind of forum which is for everyone who is passionate about start-ups, technology, design, and making the world a better place.
The DOST-ICT Office is co-organizing the event to help develop and support home grown ICT startups and push for the development of the local start-up ecosystem.
“We in the DOST-ICT Office believe that providing support to technopreneurial activities like the ‘Geeks On A Beach’ is an effective way to further promote the multimedia content industry where Filipinos excel…” as said by DOST-ICT Office Executive Director Louis Napoleon C. Casambre.
GOAB will be a techfest, featuring the world’s most-promising tech front-runners who will be talking about their insights on startups, gaming, mobile apps, technology and graphic design. The event is also a great opportunity for the startup groups to pitch innovative ideas and create a network of partners, on the road to building new global products and launching businesses that would eventually become global brands.
Speakers for the event will be Bowei Gai, founder and chief ambassador of World Startup Report; Jojo Flores, co-founder and vice president of Plug & Play; Ron Hose, founding partner of Innovation Endeavors and co-founder of Tokbox; Maria Ressa, CEO and executive editor of Rappler.com; and many more successful startup leaders.
