CGEAHS tops cybersecurity poster making tilt
Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo High School (CGEAHS) students topped the first Cybersecurity Poster Making Contest for high school students held on June 30 at the Department of Science and Technology Information and Communications Technology Office (DOST-ICTO) Building, Quezon City.
Armed with oil pastels, five teams faced off to draw their best interpretation of the theme “Internet for All: Cybersecurity for the Youth” on canvas. The teams were given three hours to perfect their illustrations which where then explained by their team leaders.
Grade 10 student Christine Pearl Mabborang from CGEAHS explained that bullying, pornography, and identity theft are the main hazards that high school students encounter online. “Although we are not hurt physically, cyber bullying and bashing hurt us emotionally,” Mabborang explained. “Always think before you click,” she added.
Meanwhile, Eulogio Amang Rodriguez High School and Balara High School bagged the 2nd and 3rd spots respectively. The other participating schools were Krus na Ligas High School and Quirino High School. The teams were joined by their ICT coaches.
In line with the DOST-ICTO mandate to promote ICT literacy and awareness among the Filipino public, is its goal to maintain a safe cyberworld, especially for the youth. The Cybersecurity Poster Making Contest was conducted to educate high school students of the various internet benefits, as well as the online threats that they must protect themselves from.
The Cybersecurity Poster Making Contest was also part of the 2015 ICT Month celebrations.
