E-commerce Championed for PWDs

Providing decent employment opportunities for all is the mandate of the government’s campaign for inclusive economic growth. Thus, e-commerce was championed as a viable source of opportunities for persons with disabilities (PWDs) at the summit ICT 4 Biz: Connecting Your Business with the Right People held last June 17 at the Sequioa Hotel in Quezon City.

According to 199Jobs Founder Fitz Villafuerte, online freelancing is one of the ways PWDs could earn.

“Online freelancing can be done at home, where PWDs are most comfortable in,” he explained in the breakout session How to be a Successful Freelancer.

The other breakout sessions were on Creating and Monetizing your Freedom, Gusto ko Magnegosyo, Pero Paano?, and How to Start a Book Writing Career.

Apart from the four (4) breakout sessions, ICT 4 Biz also connected the audience to businesses that particularly catered to PWDs through an exhibit of companies. Some of these companies are involved in web graphics and design, animation, as well as gaming and transcription services.

ICT4 Biz was held in line with the 2015 Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Month of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) ICT Office.
