NICT Summit 2015 to Tackle Internet Connectivity in the Country
The National ICT Summit 2015, organized and hosted by the ICT Office of the DOST, Chief Information Officers Forum (CIOF), and the CIOF Foundation will be held on June 23 and 24 at the Hotel Intercontinental Manila. Attended by CIO’s from government agencies and ICT industry partners; this will discuss recent developments in the industry and government initiatives that would affect ICT policies, services and processes in the Philippines.
This year’s theme is “Internet: Ugnayan Para sa Kaunlaran”. In line with this, the meeting’s highlights will include updates on the Free Wifi Internet Access in Public Places which aims to provide connection to areas that are not reachable by commercial internet providers.
Furthermore, the summit will also discuss the developments in the DICT bill which aims to create a separate Department of Information and Communication Technology which will be dedicated to the developing and governing of ICT applications and services in the Philippines.
The NICT Summit is and annual gathering geared towards collaboration of chief information officers and ICT industry partners in discussing and developing ICT policies in the country.
