06 April 2021 – The Philippines recently participated in the Kick-Off Meeting of the “Development of ASEAN Open Data Dictionary for ASEAN Connectivity” Project The meeting was initiated by the National Information Society Agency (NIA) of the Republic of Korea (ROK) and was attended by DICT representatives. 

The meeting was also participated in by representatives of ASEAN Member States, the ASEAN Connectivity Coordinating Committee (ACCC), ASEAN Community Statistical System (ACSS) Committee, ASEAN Digital Senior Officials’ Meeting (ADGSOM), and the relevant ROK government or agencies. 

The “Development of ASEAN Open Data Dictionary for ASEAN Connectivity” is under Initiative 6 of the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity (MPAC) 2025. The project is funded by the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund (AKCF), and aims to improve the efficiency of government service delivery, support private sector innovation, and establish the foundation for the open data network. 

The project scope includes: 1) developing a framework for the ASEAN Open Data Network based on open data readiness of the 10 AMS, 2) develop and publish the open data dictionary that will be available online with a visualization functionality, and 3) organize two ASEAN forums on open data for consultation and capacity-building.
