29 March 2021 – In line with the celebration of National Women’s Month, the culminating program entitled DICT: Kaagapay sa Agenda ni Juana was held on 29 March 2021 via Zoom Teleconferencing and Facebook Live. This activity served as a celebration and recapitulation of all the National Women’s Month events held by the department, as well as a session to share the current and future gender-centered initiatives created and to be explored by different Bureaus/Services/Offices/Units of the DICT.

National Planning and Corporate Management Bureau Director, Maria Teresa Magno-Garcia mentioned in her Opening Remarks that the Philippine’s overall aspiration as embodied in the AmBisyon Natin 2040, centers the message of inclusivity. Gender issues and concerns include the socioeconomic development aspects of the country on governance, infrastructure, cascading economic opportunities, education and providing connectivity.  “As long as gender inequality exists, the Philippines will never be truly inclusive.” Hence, DICT has dedicated the entire March to recognize the important role of women in national governance.

This event was graced virtually by various women leaders of the DICT and spoke about their plans and projects in support to the Gender and Equality Development advocacies. Among the topics presented were as follows:

This culminating program seeks to foster the community within the DICT and its attached agencies in order to further celebrate the importance of the role of women in our society, especially in our circles of work. This celebration also seeks to empower women’s rights within the DICT through supporting women to further push for their goals and achievements in our society. Our Women Leaders shall also share DICT’s Future Plans that will further push gender-based initiatives within DICT and its stakeholders throughout the year.

Director Yesly Corazon R.D. Jaen of the Administrative Service on her Closing Remarks acknowledged ang congratulated everyone who supported and joined various online dialogues, webinars and capacity buildings conducted by DICT in celebration of the National Women’s Month 2021. Overall, this month-long celebration was a success despite the current challenges faced due to the pandemic and transition to the New Normal.
