The Department of Information and Communications Technology-Mindanao Cluster 3 (DICT MC3) held a two-day Social Media Marketing Training for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in General Santos City on April 22 to 23, 2021.

This initiative is part of the Department’s efforts to support MSME’s and promote countryside development.

“By providing support and trainings to MSMEs, we hope to give Filipino entrepreneurs the necessary ICT knowledge and skills to grow and thrive in the digital economy,” DICT Secretary Gregorio “Gringo” B. Honasan II said.

Twelve MSMEs from General Santos City joined the first batch of training and another batch of 12 Tuna and Coco MSMEs in Gen San participated in the second day. Participants were taught how to use social media platform as their leverage in boosting their presence and grow their businesses.

Data privacy and cybersecurity orientation, especially for online transactions, were also discussed.

The two-day training is an initiative made possible with the collaboration of DICT Sarangani – Gen San office and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Gen San.

At present, the DICT implements the digitaljobsPH which aims to capacitate MSMEs to increase their market coverage through e-Commerce. Since its inception in 2017, digitaljobsPH, formerly known as Rural Impact Sourcing, was able to train more than 1,700 MSMEs nationwide.
