The Department of Information and Communications and Technology (DICT) and Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will further strengthen its cooperation efforts in the field of ICT in the conduct of the 2nd MIC-DICT ICT Cooperation Committee (MDICC) Conference on 11 April 2018 at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria, Ortigas Center, Quezon City.

In line with the two agencies’ existing Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC), the 2nd MDICC Conference will focus on the discussion of the Philippine National Broadband Plan (NBP), Cybersecurity, ICT for Disaster Preparedness, and Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting (DTTB).

Attended by government and private sector representatives from both countries, the one-day conference will be divided into two parts: the policy and the business session.

The policy part will be a government-to-government discussion between the DICT and MIC on the implementation of the MOC.

On the other hand, the business session, with the theme: “Weaving Digital Governance and ICT Cooperation in the Fabric of the Information Society,” will be a forum on various ICT topics.

Experts from Japan will also present a report on the pre-feasibility study of the NBP, one of the major projects of the DICT that aims to improve the overall speed and availability of internet in the country.

First conducted last 30 June 2017, the MDICC Conference is a collaborative activity to provide a formal forum for discussion of various ICT cooperation areas.
