COVID-19 patients and medical frontliners at the Philippine Arena Complex – We Heal As One Center in Bocaue, Bulacan can now connect to the Internet for free through the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s (DICT) Free Wi-Fi for All Program.
DICT, through its Luzon Regional Cluster 2, successfully installed free Wi-Fi access points in the 300-bed mega treatment facility on May 5, 2020.
DICT said free Internet connectivity and access will aid both external and internal communications among frontliners during their shifts. Patients can also use it as means of contacting their loved ones online, as well as surfing the web for information and entertainment.
DICT has initially provided free Wi-Fi hotspots in government designated COVID-19 quarantine centers in Metro Manila, such as in Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila, Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) and World Trade Center Metro Manila (WTCMM) in Pasay City.
The Department also installed free Wi-Fi hotspots in government designated quarantine centers in different regions in the country.
“DICT continues and will continue to provide free Wi-Fi to government designated quarantine centers, hospitals and health facilities in the country in accordance with President Duterte’s directives to provide connectivity, and in full support of the government’s efforts, through the IATF, in its fight against COVID-19,” Secretary Gregorio B. Honasan II said.
