The Philippine Startup Challenge (PSC) is a national student startup competition, which aims to inspire college students to create innovative solutions to the most pressing problems in the society with the use of technology. This initiative has been geared towards promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship in ICT among the youth and also to ensure the continuous creation of investible ideas and startup founders that will liven up the local innovation ecosystem.
For the past four years of its implementation, PSC has helped empowered academe stakeholders to create technology and Internet driven software products and solutions to address real-life problems in the community and industry. Around 500+ entries were received in the last four years with student teams creating technology driven startups that address issues in the sectors of agriculture, transportation, education, health, environment, among others. PSC is more than a student-competition because it exposes the youth to industry leaders and enablers as they experience different ways of creating innovative and viable business solutions with the hope that they continue their ventures as actual startups. It is in this area that we seek partnership from industry partners to provide support to the winning teams for the challenge.
Now on its fifth run, we will be overhauling the selection system by deeply involving our cluster offices on the mentorship and selection process for their respective regions. The new system ensures each region will be presented at the Nationals. All eight (8) clusters will select their top 3 teams which will all compete for the PSC5 Finals in Metro Manila.
II.Target Participants. The Philippine Startup Challenge 5 (PSC5) participants are college/university students from all participating clusters. At least 10 schools/institutions per cluster are encouraged participate.
